Fellow Vikings,
First things first: thank you for sticking with us throughout Early Access.
As many of you probably know by now, whenever we're deep into developing new features and systems, we tend to become a bit quieter. That's simply because we're completely locked in, trying to make the game as good as it can possibly be. Some of you might know the feeling of sitting in your room, surrounded by code, losing track of time while trying to make everyone happy. :D
The good news? We're back with what turned out to be a much bigger update than we originally anticipated. It introduces entirely new build possibilities, expands character customization, and completely overhauls the way status effects work. We're incredibly excited to finally get it into your hands and, even more importantly, see the crazy builds you'll come up with.
Here's everything that's new:
⚒️ Forge of the Aesir
The Forge of the Aesir is a brand-new system that gives you much more control over your builds right from the beginning of a run.
Before heading into battle, you can now infuse your weapon with one of four damage types:
Physical
Fire
Cold
Lightning
Choosing an infusion converts your weapon's damage to that element, grants a bonus to that damage type, and guarantees that whenever you're offered new abilities, at least one matches your chosen specialization.
One of the most common pieces of feedback we've received was the frustration of committing to a build, only to never be offered abilities that actually supported it. That could make an entire run feel pointless.
We still want every run to feel like a roguelike with meaningful randomness, but randomness should create exciting decisions, not block your build entirely.
Abilities themselves are still randomized, so every run stays fresh, but you should no longer find yourself staring at fifteen Cold abilities while trying to build around Fire.
This is only the beginning. Later this year we'll expand the Forge further with additional progression options that let you specialize even more throughout a run.
👑 Ascendancy Warpaints
A completely new Warpaint rarity has entered the game.
Ascendancy Warpaints are the rarest and most powerful Warpaints yet. Besides rolling four maximum-tier stats, each one also comes with a unique Ascendancy Effect capable of fundamentally changing how your build plays.
Want Bleed to last forever? Turn every attack into Fire damage? Create devastating Ignite explosions? Cast your last ability every fifth basic attack? Ascendancy Warpaints make all of this possible.
Unlike Mythic Warpaints, Ascendancy Warpaints also contain Rune Essence, allowing them to be crafted and perfected even further.
You can equip up to three different Ascendancy Warpaints at the same time, opening the door for some truly wild combinations.
🧩 New Knots of Fate
We've also added a large collection of brand-new Knots of Fate, giving you even more opportunities to customize and specialize your runs.
Whether you're looking to enhance Physical, Fire, Cold or Lightning builds, focus on critical strikes, survivability, healing, or completely unique mechanics, there's plenty to discover.
🔊 More additions
One of the biggest gameplay overhauls in Asgard's Fall so far.
😵Complete Status Effect Rework
Bleed, Ignite, Chill and Shock have all been redesigned from the ground up.
Each status effect is now tied to its respective damage type by default, giving every archetype a much clearer identity while creating significantly more meaningful build choices.
Every effect has received new mechanics, scaling behavior and interactions, making them feel much more unique and rewarding to build around.
We've also updated several existing Knots of Fate to fit these new mechanics.
Important News: Price Increase
We've also got some important news regarding the game's base price.
The discount currently running on Steam will be the last opportunity to pick up Asgard's Fall at its original Early Access launch price.
Once the sale ends, the base price of Asgard's Fall will increase to $9.99 USD. Regional pricing will be adjusted accordingly.
If you've been on the fence about buying the game or recommending it to a friend, now is the best time.
This will also be the only planned price increase. We're making this adjustment now to prepare the game for its 1.0 full release in September.
Yes... you read that correctly. Version 1.0 is no longer somewhere in the distant future. It's getting surprisingly close.
We're already working on plenty of exciting features for the big release, but we'll keep those surprises for another day. 😉
About the 1.0 Progress Reset
We also want to address something we already communicated before but want to put emphasize on it once again:
We're aware that some players have experienced issues with the Warpaint system, and we're truly sorry for the frustration this has caused.
While investigating these problems, we discovered deeper issues within the current save system that, in rare cases, can affect overall progression.
To solve this properly instead of applying temporary fixes, we're rebuilding the entire saving system from the ground up.
As a result, the release of Version 1.0 will include a full progress reset.
At the same time, Version 1.0 introduces entirely new progression systems, making it the perfect point for everyone to start fresh on equal footing.
As a small thank you for supporting us throughout Early Access, all Early Access players will receive exclusive rewards after the reset.
Until Next Time
As always, thank you so much for your incredible support, feedback, bug reports, and patience throughout Early Access. Every update is heavily shaped by your suggestions, and we genuinely couldn't make this game without such an engaged community.
We can't wait to hear what you think about the new systems, see the builds you'll come up with, and read your feedback. We're getting closer and closer to Version 1.0, and there are still plenty of exciting things ahead.
See you on the battlefield, Vikings! 🍻
