1-Tutorial

Learn the basics of architecture, step by step. After two weeks of the demo, what an incredible experience it has been for Architect Life! We’ve seen the community of future architects grow steadily, and it’s an absolute honor to share this journey with you. Your feedback, in all its forms, is invaluable to us. It helps us refine and improve the game continuously. We’ve loved engaging with you and involving you in the game’s evolution.

Upcoming changes

That’s why we’re actively working on improvements based on your input after the demo. Here’s what we’re already focusing on:

Today, for this fifth Archiblog, we’re taking a broader look. We’ll walk you through how a project unfolds from start to finish in Career Mode in Architect Life: A House Design Simulator!

Time to start your project

First things first, before you begin a new project, you need to choose one! At each stage of your career, you’ll have a selection of three different projects. These projects are determined by your reputation, which you gradually build by successfully completing projects. The more satisfied your clients are, the more your reputation grows, unlocking access to bigger and more ambitious projects! Once you’ve chosen your project, it’s time to get to work! Design your house, outline its shape, define and furnish its rooms, choose materials, and much more. When your design is complete, it’s time to build. Select the construction companies that will handle different phases of the project, each with its own pricing, deadlines, and reliability. After making your choices, you’ll oversee the construction process on-site. Various events, such as bad weather or unexpected incidents, may disrupt the project. Construction completed!

Once construction is finished, you can finally explore your creation! With a first-person view, immerse yourself in the house you designed and built, within its unique setting. Each project has its own environment and atmosphere. After your visit, it’s time to see if your project meets the client’s expectations. Their satisfaction depends on how well you followed the project’s requirements. The better you fulfill their requests, the happier they’ll be. Each completed project also grants you experience points, which unlock perks, new tools, and additional options for future projects. If you manage to satisfy your client, you’ll also keep any unused portion of the project’s budget, helping your agency stay afloat and continue growing your career. That wraps up our overview of how a project unfolds in Architect Life: A House Design Simulator! In this new Archiblog, we will dive deeper into the tools you’ll have access to for designing your home. In the first Archiblog, we showed you how to draw walls and manipulate your rooms. These tools are part of the first design phase (there are 5 in total): Structural Work!

HOUSEBUILDING: Structural Work

Let’s see what else this phase has in store. During the Structural Work phase, you’ll place the stairs, doors, windows, and balconies of your home. Stairs are placed directly on the ground, and once set, they automatically create an opening adapted to the shape on the floor above. Doors and windows align automatically with the wall under your cursor to spare you tedious placement. There are many doors and windows of various sizes and styles to let you imagine and test countless designs! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37743713/90ba380abf2e6f6b8ccbdec5a34a584c3ad050b9.gif Balconies are created by placing barriers, which are drawn just like walls. By creating a closed shape at a height, poles automatically appear to support your structure. Now, let’s take a quick look at the second design phase: Finishing Work! The main function in the Finishing Work phase is to place all the coverings in your home. Tiles, parquet, or marble for your floors. And plaster, paint, or wallpaper for your walls. Architect Life offers a wide variety of coverings that can drastically influence the atmosphere and style of your creation! SPEAKING OF!

We're pushing along with development and want to share that journey with you through a series of dev blogs. That starts with Archiblog #1 - Putting up walls! Each build starts at your desk where you'll create the design for your next creation and the first step is to add some structure. And to do that, you'll need walls! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37743713/4771f85738308daa0690c1e71beba2c46e16822a.jpg We created our tools to give you freedom while presenting all the information you'd need to build walls and rooms of any shape. Grids, tooltips, and other aids will help you set precise angles or keep things symmetrical (if you're as oddly specific about that as I am). Also yes, that includes curved walls, but this feature is still WIP so we'll show it off in more detail later. When you've got the building design down, you can fine-tune it by merging and separating parts or moving walls to create extensions at the press of a button. After which, you can define from which materials you wish to build and later expand on this by adding paint, or wall coverings. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37743713/a2e24c60e56688a1d68ac84a7523bcb24d4c883b.jpg Additionally, there are two camera modes from which you can view your creation. The 360 rotational view gives complete control of what you're looking at and the top-down view can help put your designs into perspective. You can zoom in as necessary or draw back when you want to get an idea of the scope of what you've been building. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37743713/fae34f6a758b75373219a8347ebb19027cc5279e.jpg We've put together a short video showing off some of these features below for those who want a closer look at how development is coming along! Note: The video is using the French language version of the game, we're a French studio, sorry about that, but we'll share the English version in the future.
