Homecoming Update Devlog: A Helpful Sister

Hello Prospectors! Today we'd like to introduce one of the new characters coming in the free Homecoming Update. Meet your sister, who has just returned from Poland to help you rebuild the family legacy in Alaska. After spending years away, she's finally with you again - and she's ready to roll up her sleeves. But before she could arrive in the game, we first had to create her!

🎨 From Sculpt to Alaska

Like every important character in Alaska Gold Fever, she started as a detailed high-poly sculpt created in Blender and ZBrush. Once the sculpt was finished, we created a low-poly version, made the UV maps, and baked all the fine details from the high-poly model onto the optimized game mesh. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40856629/5077f65b2042c53a345e0332c66da5aee62bdaae.gif Next came texturing in Substance Painter, where we gave her clothes, skin, and accessories their final look. The hairstyle was created separately in Blender using the Hair Tool, before optimizing the mesh and preparing everything for animation. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40856629/98c5636fec791d9a042258260f22a217068a3f99.png Finally, the character received an armature, weight painting, and several LOD levels to keep performance smooth. The last step: Exporting everything into Unity and making sure the character looked just as good in-game as she did in the 3D software. Hello Prospectors! If you've played Alaska Gold Fever from the very beginning, you probably remember NPC named Henry... Yes, that Henry. 😄 Our story with him actually started back in the earliest demo, when we arrived together on the snowy island, both dreaming of striking it rich during the Alaskan Gold Rush. Things... didn't exactly go according to plan.

🤠 Meet Henry - The Man Behind the Bandits

He simply stole the treasure we had worked so hard to uncover. Running an illegal distillery isn't as simple as pouring a few ingredients into a barrel. There's plenty of work to do before your business starts turning a profit!

🍓 Build Your Own Berry Garden

You'll be able to create your own berry garden, but first you'll need to prepare the land. The area is overgrown with weeds and covered in rocks, so you'll have to clean it up before planting your first crops. 👨‍🌾 Hire a Helper

That's why you'll have the option to hire a helper to assist with maintaining your moonshine operation. But don't expect him to start working right away-you'll first need to build him a small office and living quarters. Let's just hope he doesn't sample too much of the product while you're away... 😄

🥃 Time to Start Brewing

Moonshine takes time to produce, so don't expect instant results. Fill the equipment, let everything ferment, and come back later to collect your freshly distilled product. Hello Prospectors! One of the biggest features of the upcoming Bandits DLC is, of course... the bandits!

Get ready for a next battle!

We've been working hard on their AI to make combat feel exciting, dynamic, and rewarding. Bandits will patrol their camps, guard important locations, react to your presence, and work together to stop anyone trying to steal their loot. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40856629/658198135857c70ac701a73c5ad57467caf0b82e.gif Don't expect every fight to be easy! Some encounters will involve multiple enemies attacking from different directions, forcing you to think about your positioning and use cover wisely. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40856629/65ebcc249205c6bce30f821ebd28438881f47b3c.gif That said, don't worry - we're not turning Alaska Gold Fever into an ultra-hardcore shooter. 😄 (and remember: shotgun is still the best weapon here!)

🔫Shootout

Hello Prospectors! Today we'd like to take a closer look at one of the most dangerous places coming in the Bandits DLC: the main Bandit Camp! Unlike ordinary settlements, this camp wasn't built for comfort. It was built for survival, hiding from the law, and protecting stolen loot.

Inside the Bandit Camp

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40856629/2e1f5961d64f3dcd9b3c0ea5fcc4adef0034c1dd.gif One of the most unique features of the camp is its location. Large parts of the settlement have been constructed directly above the water and connected by a network of wooden bridges and platforms. Bandits have built rough wooden cabins and shaggy huts throughout the area, creating a maze of walkways, hidden corners, and lookout positions. 🔭 The Watchtower

And yes... you'll probably attract their attention before you spot them.

⛺ Smaller Camps Across the Frontier

The good news? Fewer bandits. The bad news? They're still bandits.

🧊 Frozen River & Frozen Lake

These new icy areas will introduce unique environmental hazards. Fall into the freezing water and you'll quickly regret not wearing warmer clothes and proper boots. Staying dry might become just as important as staying alive!

🦌 The Highlands

Hello Prospectors! Today we'd like to give you a small look behind the curtain and show some early work on the upcoming Bandits DLC. Bandits are one of the major new features coming to Alaska Gold Fever. Before they can ambush prospectors, guard camps, and fight for valuable resources, they first need to be designed, modeled, animated, and tested.

Creating the Bandits

While these videos are still work-in-progress, they give a glimpse into how the bandits are coming to life.

Hello Prospectors! We've just released another update for Alaska Gold Fever, bringing several improvements and quality-of-life features requested by the community.

Patch Notes for version: 2026.05.29.01

-Added Steam Cloud support for all players, allowing save files to be synchronized between devices. -Fixed a new UI element displaying information about active community mining contest. (read more about contest rules below) -Added the ability to collect water directly from rivers. (needs an empty bootle) -Some small optimization improvements to increase overall performance and stability. Thank you for your continued feedback and support. More updates are on the way! We are currently working on fixes to hired miners.

You can also use our in game tool for bug reporting: just press F5 and fill a report - we will get it right away! ;)
