We've been carefully listening to player feedback on Patience, Authority and beating levels and we are introducing a new Authority mechanic.
If you lose all your Authority, you no longer immediately lose the game. Instead, your leader is disgraced and loses the respect of the people. The settlement becomes harder to govern and your final score will be reduced significantly but you can keep playing and win.
We hope that this lets experienced players continue to challenge themselves whilst making things more accessible for new players or people wanting a more relaxed game. (without needing new difficulty settings etc).
Now that we've completed the Scenario Creator, we've only got a few things left to do before 1.0! Currently, we are working on Steamdeck support and a brand new campaign…
Added Scenario Creator
Added Scenario Browsers
Added 'Disgrace' Authority mechanic
Fixed bug where Storage in Population Trait also boosted the Starting Resources.
Increased benefit from Population Trait on Starting Resources.
Fixed an issue where the Dormant Graves modifier could spawn Zombies in the Settlement area.
Today we're releasing one of our most requested features: Sandbox Mode along with a number of other expansions for Expeditions.
You're all a critical part of making this game great - thanks for your ongoing feedback during Early Access!
We're still hard at work on the After Inc: Scenario Creator, and also starting to plan out the next campaign!

This can be played on any Expedition.
If you're looking for a greater challenge, we've added a new danger level to Expedition "Very High"... Prepare yourself for Infested Borders and a lot more zombies!
Infested Borders can also appear on lower danger levels as well but with reductions in other danger aspects.
Expedition Goals have been expanded to give more variety and now include single goals like maximising your population.
We've added six new modifiers, including infested borders, zombie surprise attacks and improved Fighter healing.
We've added four new map layouts in the Expedition rotation! Keep your eyes peeled for them.

Added a chance to see an Infested Border on Medium and High Danger Levels
Note: Fewer Infestations will appear if an Infested Border is active

Updated Unity Version
Ndemic Creations
This is an update that seeks to hit a lot of the community feedback on topics including Impatience, Morale, Authority and the recent Fighter Exploration/Claiming bug fix. Thanks for all your feedback - we're keen to make After Inc. the best game it can be, and your feedback is essential.
Impatience: We have made a number of changes here to give players more tools to deal with it as well as making it less punishing on lower difficulties. As part of our work here, we also discovered a subtle bug that made it harder to deal with impatience than intended - fixing this also has a big impact in the newest update.
Impatience now impacts authority less as your authority gets closer to zero (amount depends on difficulty)
Celebrations give more patience - particularly if your patience is causing problems (below 0)
Festivals give more patience - particularly if your patience is causing problems (below 0)
Added indicators to show when patience being gained
Fixed significant bug where festivals and celebrations only increased patience if your people were not already impatient
Fighters Explore and Claim: As we said in the last changelog, we had to fix the bug in order to assess the state of the game. Fighters with Pathfinders reward now claim / explore faster and randomness has been reduced. Their intelligence and ability to collaborate has also been improved significantly.
Smaller Areas will take less time than larger ones to explore / claim
Moving Fighters whilst they are claiming / exploring will no longer fully reset explore / claim progress (but it will still reduce it slightly)
Fighters will now be more intelligent when exploring an Area - they will focus on reducing cost on one Area rather than splitting attention between multiple Areas.
Fighters will typically try to explore the smallest adjacent Area unless another Area would be quicker to see cost reduction (because of historical progress)
Manually exploring an Area will allow soldiers to partially transfer their exploration progress to a neighbour (if available)
Multiple Fighters can help to explore a specific Area
Settler's demands/ morale and abandoning settlement:
Settlers are now less likely to leave your settlement if they are missing non-essential amenities
Settlers are now less likely to leave your settlement if there are lots of zombies around
Settlers are now less likely to leave your settlement if it’s dangerous outside
Festivals: Reduced ongoing consumption of Amenities
Festivals: Increased growth speed at higher settlement sizes
Festivals: Improved text description
These are all impactful changes and as always, we will be monitoring how they go and making adjustments as needed.
Added 5 new Region outlines to expeditions - significantly increasing variation.
New Expedition modifier: Impatient Population (experience Impatience as it was on launch!)
Fixed an issue where negative map modifiers would reduce goal patience
Updated Unity Version

We've got lots more coming soon for After Inc: Revival. Check out our Roadmap!
But also be sure to let us know what you'd like to see in the forums, on discord, and on our reddit.
Shadows of the Past is nearly here, a whole new campaign with new mechanics, new content and surprises.
As always, features and content are subject to change, but here's what we're working on and hope to release within the next month!
Your Survivors face extinction, but a glimmer of hope in the form of a radio message promises a way forward that might be too good to be true. Venture south into dense urban areas across multiple levels to discover the source of the signal.
Empower your settlement with a game-changing new structure: Outposts. Customisable to your needs, Outposts can help your Survivors in various ways.
Large urban populations fuelled the zombie hordes during the pandemic, and now you have to face them. Some say they have become unstoppable. Will you survive?
This is our biggest update yet, and we're incredibly excited to get this into your hands. If you'd like to be among the first to play, join our Discord to get exclusive access to early beta tests:
Improvement for balance changes in Update 5.
Surprise Attacks now do extra damage to Buildings
Fixed an issue where retreating from a Surprise Attack would not reduce a Fighter's health correctly
Updated Localisations
Be sure to raise any issues you have in the Steam Forums or on Discord!
In our fifth major update, we've made some big changes to give you more options as you rebuild the world, implement more satisfying combat and lay the groundwork for the Shadows of the Past campaign.
We've adjusted Zombie awakenings to be more predictable, now based on your actions and how much attention you've brought to your settlement. Settlement size and weather also factor in, so keep an eye out!
Fighters will now consume resources when in unclaimed zones, are stronger when taunting, and the Reinforce ability is always available.
To reward keeping your Morale high, we've added Celebrations. You'll get a gift of Stamina and a reduction of Impatience (based on Settlement Size). The happier your people are, the more likely they'll celebrate.
High morale now also improves your Population Growth and Fighter Strength.
Once you get to higher populations, Demands will be more reasonable, baseline population growth speed will be reduced, and Morale will have a greater impact on Population Growth.
New Features
Added Celebration mechanic. Chance to get Celebration bubbles when morale >100% (capped by population)
Added Zombie Awareness mechanic. Increased by Claiming/Fighter movement as well as Settlement activity and Weather. Makes zombies more likely to wake and makes zombies join existing fights more quickly. Zombies attacking into an existing fight will make things worse based on Awareness
Added Gluttons expedition modifier
Added Stretched Supply Chains expedition modifier
Added High Maintenance expedition modifier
Added Warrior Ethos expedition modifier

Quality of Life
Updated building action logic to always remain above Storage and Scavenge actions.
Improved Leader Bubbles artwork
Improved Enemy Warning Icon artwork
Fighters will prepare for battle when taunting - boosting their strength

A fighter retreating now results in a lingering combat penalty for a while in that area (other fighters are scared to go there)

Enabling it lets Survivors use a new exit to leave the bunker! Starting location, terrain and enemies are reshuffled so you don't know exactly what is out there...
Can you still build a thriving settlement if you emerged on the other side of the region? What if meat was scarce? Or forests far away?
It's a brand new challenge every time with some special surprises.
New Features
Added Escape Hatch Mode
Developer note - a player requested feature to improve replayability of the campaign levels
Expeditions will now leave different colour and size icons on the Abandoned Kingdom map to reflect what difficulty they were beaten on.
Developer note: An extra way to reward players for beating expeditions and recognise the difficulty level - the world map becomes a bit like a trophy cabinet!
New completed expedition icons added to the pool including special ones for Mega Brutal
The game will now warn you if building housing that will need new Services researched.
Developer note: Another player requested feature so players know if they are in danger of growing too fast and encountering morale issues. This doesn’t apply on Mega Brutal.
Quality of Life
Added Difficulty and Region Name to the settlement screen Overview panel
Increased the size of completed Expedition score boxes
Adjusted padding of World Map for different screens
Changed the fitting of ranking stars on level select to better align with text
Bug Fixes
Fix for camera zoom when selecting a Campaign whilst already having a Level selected
Fixed an issue with 'Growth Spurt' achievement
Fixed levelled building shadows appearing strange
Fixed an issue with initial Reward Points not being earned in Extra Expeditions if you didn’t have existing rewards
Fixed potential reward bug when saving and loading an Expedition
We're hard at work on a brand new campaign Shadows of the Past which adds new game mechanics and a lot more levels.
At the same time, we are working on various other features including a control scheme upgrade that lets people use right click to build things in specific areas. More news on all of this soon and we will adjust plans in response to player feedback as always :)
