Hello, Warriors!
Update 1.8.1 is not our biggest patch ever.
No new challenges are being added. No one even wheeled a wooden horse through the gates…
But this one means a lot to us!
With this update, Achilles: Legends Untold now supports Greek, and Achilles gets a new armor to wear into battle. For a game based on Greek mythology, that already feels special. What makes it even better is the story behind it - because this update exists thanks to one very determined member of our community.
Update 1.8.1 adds:
Greek language support
A new armour for Achilles
Now for the odyssey.
This story started back at EGX London, where one of our community members, Tzekino (you may also know him from our Discord or his Twitch as SoulAge), first discovered Achilles: Legends Untold. What followed was not a quick weekend task, but a three-year journey through 4,200 lines of text that would have made lesser heroes quietly walk into the sea. To give him a spotlight he deserves, we decided to share this interview with you The entire story was blessed and approved by Tzekino to be published:)
“My journey with Dark Point Games began at EGX London. When I saw Achilles: Legends Untold, I was immediately captivated by the art.”
“I had my English friend try it first, then I jumped in. The potential was undeniable. I had never really seen Achilles as the main hero of a game in quite that way before.”
He was so excited that he even began to pull people to the stand
“I grew up in Greece with a huge love for Greek mythology. Greek mythology was my childhood passion-I used to know the myths like the back of my hand, though life and responsibilities had made some of those memories fade. Later, games like Titan Quest became very important to me too. When I saw Achilles: Legends Untold, I felt the same connection immediately. “
“I had already joined the Dark Point Discord, but after meeting the lovely developers via Google Meet and streaming the game on its release day (taking a day off from my job at a petrol station to do so), an idea struck me. “
Then he asked a very fair question:
if you are making a game about Achilles, why is there no Greek translation?
Also fair: he did not stop at asking.
”No shortcuts here.
To ensure the 4,200 lines were perfect, I didn't rely on AI at all. Google, ChatGPT, and Gemini made too many mistakes. Instead, I used the physical dictionary my mother gave me years ago: ELLHNOEKDOTIKH OLYMPIA”
And just to calm you down: because work like that deserves to be treated seriously, we did this properly: we worked with him officially, paid for the translation, and added his name to the credits!
“To guarantee professional quality, I hired a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. We sat in a small coffee shop and reviewed the project. He was amazed by the work.”
Not even remotely. I was ecstatic, but I had no idea what was coming. What started as enthusiasm became a three-year odyssey.
“My routine was simple in theory and heroic in practice: work through the week, then translate on Saturdays.”
Very quickly the translation had to find its place between work and real life getting in the way.
At the beginning, things at work became unstable fast. “Redundancies were coming, and panic set in.” Soon after, he had to learn a new trade - plastic welding - and rebuild his routine around it. At the same time, the project kept moving forward in the background: “I was translating the project in my spare time, using streaming as a way to vent my stress, all while keeping the project a secret.”
At the same time, life outside the project grew heavier too. As he wrote, “my partner’s mother fell ill”, and with his partner spending long nights at the hospital, more responsibility suddenly fell on his shoulders.
He stepped in where he could - not only to help provide for the family, but also to support his partner’s younger sister during a difficult time. One part of that stayed with him in particular: “seeing her mood transform when she finally met other children was a massive victory.”
Then came a serious scare at work. After an accident on the job, the translation had to stop for a while: “The doctor told me I was inches away from losing my sight. I had to take time off from work and the translation to recover, but the voice inside me kept saying: ‘Never give up.’”
Part of it came from something deeply personal. As he shared, “my manager - a fantastic man - was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. Attending his funeral was a turning point for me. It taught me that life is short and we must leave our mark by being good people.”
There were also moments that gave him energy: one of them happened at another gaming event, this time Gamescom.
“As a teenager in Greece in 2006, Titan Quest was my favorite game. When the sequel was announced, I knew I had to be there. I traveled to Gamescom 2024 to meet my German friend and fellow creator. Seeing Titan Quest II and making new friends refreshed my soul. I returned to the UK with a new fire to finish my task.”
“Honestly? Stubbornness. And love for the project. Sometimes life was exhausting, sometimes I thought about giving up, but I kept hearing the same thing in my head: never give up.”
And he didn’t.
Not exactly. The second half of the journey brought a different kind of pressure: overwork, technical disasters, and the final bureaucratic hurdles.
As he put it, “I was working a heavy welding job and translating for 6 to 8 hours every Saturday.” That pace eventually caught up with him: “It took a toll - I ended up in the hospital twice. I realized that I have to start looking after my mental and physical health.”
And when he invested in a better setup for content creation, that became its own odyssey too: “However, the build was cursed.Faulty RAM and motherboards led to endless "Blue Screens of Death." “I spent hours a day after my 8-hour welding shifts troubleshooting.”
There were also the final practical obstacles: “I had to move house to be closer to work and navigate a nightmare of renewing my passports.”
But all ended well: “I finally had the freedom to travel. I went home to see my parents, and their support gave me the final energy I needed.”
Relief, mostly.
“Before I officially handed over the Greek translation to the developers, to celebrate, I booked a tattoo session to get the letter "A" for Achilles on my skin. The stress has left my body. This isn't just a file; it’s three years of my life, my health, and my heart.
The Greek language is ready.”
He told us that he plans to rest now - and put more time to interact with the community, stream games he loves, and maybe in the future get a full time job as a content creator in a gamedev studio.
1.9 maybe a small patch, but to us, it feels like a very meaningful one. Achilles: Legends Untold is dedicated to our love to Greek mythology, so bringing the game to that language is a reason to celebrate. We also find it wonderful that a game ended up getting its Greek translation through an odyssey of persistence and refusing to give up when things got difficult.
This update is dedicated to Tzekino, but we want to take the time to thank you all for being here with us - without you, we wouldn’t be in the same place we are now, working on our third game in years of a major crisis in gamedev.
We also want to thank everyone who talks to us in the comments, on our social media or on our Discord. We can share with you a secret we shared only with him - most of us are huge introverts here, so it matters more to us than you think
If that story inspired or moved you, please, let SoulAge know in the comments - I’m sure he will read them. He had some rough times lately when it comes to jobs, so we thought he could use some positivity in his life!
See you in battle, ~ Dark Point Games Team
The year is 1666, the Great Plague of London has just ended, and you are not going home. You are a convict, shipwrecked on a secret island off the English coast, a place whispered about as the source of every plague in history. The Crown erased it from the maps. The Celts once called it holy. Now the darkness has returned.
Light as your lifeline. Lanterns, bonfires and strange Celtic devices are more than props. Light is your most precious resource. It keeps the darkness at bay and holds back the madness that gnaws at your mind when you wander too deep.
1 up to 4 players survival. You start almost naked, scrape together shelter and tools, then slowly grow a safe heaven in the gloom. Face the challenges alone or with your friends - we won’t judge.
Runs that reshape the island. Each expedition into the darkness is a challenge. You push further, fight stronger horrors, drag back new resources and knowledge to expand your skills and base. When you fail, the island changes.
You like pressure and that “one more run” feeling? Brightfall keeps that roguelite tension but ties it to a living world and a home you return to and improve over time.
You enjoy myths and old stories? Where Achilles draws from Greek legend, Brightfall leans into Celtic roots, XVII century folklore and old English ghost stories. Stone circles, forgotten shrines, strange woodland spirits - the island is full of them.
You appreciated that our games respect your time? Brightfall is built around clear goals, meaningful upgrades and runs that move the story and the world forward, even when you die in terrible ways.
You like seeing the seams of a small studio at work? It is still the same team in Toruń, walking to the office in the Polish rain, arguing about what’s better: Toruń or Bydgoszcz, and quoting fantasy books over tea.
Hello, Warriors!
Today, we’re releasing Patch 1.8 for Achilles: Legends Untold - a smaller update, but one that lets you fight the gods in style.
You can now customize Achilles with a set of legendary visuals - including iconic armor worn by your legendary foes like Paris, Tydeus, and others.
No ordinary skins - these are the spoils of victory against gods and kings. Each set tells a story. Of Hector. Of Agamemnon. Of the day you proved yourself their better… or took your revenge.
New Game++ now works properly If you were locked out of starting NG++ - that’s now fixed.
Achievement issues resolved We’ve patched a rare issue where certain achievements didn’t unlock in edge cases.
This week is huge for our team. Achilles: Survivor - our fast-paced roguelite bullet heaven - has just launched in version 1.0 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox!
It’s a very different game, but it’s still our Achilles. If you love facing hordes of enemies, challenge, and building your own power from zero - we think you might enjoy it.
💙 From all of us in Toruń - thank you for being part of this journey. See you on the battlefield!
