Fixed Bug where opening the sort cards prompt with a gamepad controller and using the joystick to navigate the options would select cards in the background instead. Focus now maintains correctly on the sort prompt. (Thanks Quetto)

v2.97.0 Release Notes

Controller: Fixed Bug: where pressing the "B" button on the controller after picking up a card would result in the card being dismissed and the "OK" button being disabled. The "B" button no longer affects card choices and instead continues to act as the escape button (i.e. opens the settings menu in this particular case). (Thanks cdriper and ad)

Controller: Improved the RunSummary prompt by setting focus to it when activated so that background objects (ex: leaderboard) are now disabled while exploring the run summary. (Thanks Quetto)

Controller: Moving the space cursor selector with the keyboard or gamepad will no longer dismiss equipment change previews. This makes it much easier to view the changes to your character that adding new equipment will produce.

QoL: Equipment change previews are displayed away from the targeted unit. This makes it much easier to see which unit you are selecting to equip with gear and view all of the changes (additions/subtractions) the new gear will yield.

QoL: Added a new key listener to explicitly prevent the behavior of the escape key minimizing the game to a window from full screen. This should fix bug where pressing the Escape key on some Windows 11 configurations was kicking the game to windowed mode, but let me know if the problem persists after updating and I'll continue looking for solutions. QoL: Removed the Join QQ link in Chinese translated version and replaced with Join Discord link. (Thanks 猫宫日向)

QoL: Nemesis will no longer spawn in corridors. This fixes issue where the tight space could result in the player's hero and party members being driven off the map. (Thanks Meatsuit and Advant)

QoL: World Map Modules: Added support for new map modules feature. This new feature changes the behavior of map modules including the World Map, Compass, and Insatiable Coffer. Rather than being added to units and taking up valuable equipment slots, these items now permanently update the world map with valuable upgrades.

QoL: WorldMapView Rewards: When the map is explored, player will now be able to see the full list of rewards on that map.

QoL: WorldMapView Rewards: The treasure coffer will now detect and show treasures on maps where monsters are carrying them.

QoL: WorldMapView Rewards: Combining map artifacts now produces additional benefits:

If you have coffer and its a treasure encounter, you can see the rewards list

If you have coffer and the compass, you can see the rewards list for elite/boss encounters

If you have coffer and the map, you can see rewards list for camp/shop encounters

If you have coffer/compass/map, you can see rewards list for all map cells

Fixed Bug: where the procedural population algorithm could potentially hide more gold on the map than resource max allowed.

Fixed Bug: in Abalon Arena where adding local guests did not update other clients with the slots being populated by local guest players.

Fixed Bug: where retreating from an encounter could potentially result in resources being duplicated.

Fixed Bug: where a player attacking an object on the edge of a map containing the Arena Ambush encounter to collect a gold, then going to the arena, then exiting/loading the game, could result in resources being duplicated.

Fixed Bug: where opening the Run Summary prompt after completing a Survival Wave resulted in the animations for the next wave being disrupted.

Fixed Bug: where survival mode could record excess battle records for waves if the player hits "Continue" on the Victory screen and then exits the game before the next wave battle officially starts.

Balance: Created a new algorithm for squirrel hurling that guarantees a squirrel drops if there is any open tile on the board even if there is not surrounding spaces available near the target. The squirrel will drop with preference towards closest to enemy, closest to the direction from which it was hurled. This makes Sylvia more versatile and fixes bug where squirrels were not being dropped when hurled at the Prismatic Dragon. (Thanks Manchot_Royal and Anotnio)

Balance: Changed Fire Shield and Collide so they trigger on AttackPreDamage instead of Attack so that units with Knockback who hit them still take damage from their effect. (Thanks DeleteKabal)

Balance: Fixed Collide ability of Bramble Elemental so that it can't collide with and take damage from itself when knocked back.

Balance: Adjusted several encounters so that the minions generated for the More Minions challenge modifier would be more appropriate to the existing encounter's theme or biome.

Fixed Bug: where terrain (ex: brambles in the harvest world) were being removed while entering a map for battle, creating the appearance of gaps in the potential spawn formation for players and enemies. This clearable terrain was previously implemented to ensure player did not lose party members when fast traveling to tight locations (ex: treasure rooms with brambles blocking their path) and was never intended to be used for battles. Fixed Bug: where enemies could spawn in the player's deployment zone and potentially block player heroes from being able to enter the map. (Thanks mr.kitty and iuriimlm)

Fixed Bug: where minions generated via the More Minions modifier could spawn in front of the boss and occlude their roar animation in the boss intro.

Fixed Bug: where picking up multiple items in the same interaction could result in duplicate card choices being presented, allowing player to acquire more than one of the same artifact (which are supposed to be unique per run) or extra copies of spell cards. Fixed Bug: where player could attack recruitable units at shops using farshot and sprintshot attacks. (Thanks nekomiya)

Fixed Bug: where losing your Summoners upgrades could result in equipped artifacts providing cost discounts and spell power were also losing their effect. (Thanks Anotnio)

Fixed Bug: where using Savage Transformation to transform into a Bear and then using a Phylactery to revive resulted in your Summoner becoming a bear forever. The status effect for transforming back into the summoner is now kept when unit is defeated so that the revived bear will still transform back into a summoner. (Thanks Crims)

Fixed Bug: where Cosmic Tortoise could become unresponsive and not display epilogue prompts. (Thanks Spruce and Rhubarb314)

Fixed Bug: where hurling squirrels at destructible objects could sometimes result in the squirrel landing and picking up duplicate cards or lore scrolls.

Fixed Bug: where retreat coordinates were not being properly configured when teleporting to a map location then exploring outside the playable zones of nearby maps. This could result in a bug where entering a map from a corner containing an encounter (ex: Catch of the Day, Ambush, etc.) then retreating would result in the player's party remaining and the mist of mayhem not concealing the area. The player could then potentially attack neutral units and/or trigger spawning many additional units. (Thanks Wesley)

Fixed Bug: where some projectile based animations (ex: Ice Javelin) were not showing the projectile fire. (Thanks Wesley)

Fixed Bug: where Conflagration fire VFX was not being applied to deadwood trees as designed but would would then poof a brief fire after the final moment of their destruction. (Thanks Arianna).

Fixed Bug: where too many demons emerging from the Demon Dance portal could result in a sync error to extra spawn points being null. (Thanks Dmanduel)

Fixed Bug: where targeting controls could identify a visually incorrect targeting pattern by combining movement paths over and around enemies and then snapping the movement path back. (Thanks Wesley)

Fixed Bug: with targeting controls where drawing flight patterns over units wasn't showing the correct collapse of the potential movement grid until mousing off of a unit being flown over back to an unoccupied space.

Fixed Bug: with targeting controls where flying units couldn't pick up an adjacent object without moving onto the space it was dropped on. Flying units can now directly pickup adjacent objects (like non-flying units) without using an action or drag past the pickup to move over it and pick it up as part of their movement. Flying units can also create a flight path over a pickup and then designate a pickup of the object after landing on a space adjacent to it.

Fixed Bug: where Clik'Clik' was generating combos when attacking barrels and crates with his harpoon while exploring.

Fixed Bug: where Satyr Champion wasn't trigger other units' Warcry abilities when defeating an enemy as listed on his card's abilities. (Thanks 1_r3gr3t_cr32ting_th1s_us3rn2m3)

Fixed Bug: where knockbacks triggered by combos while using the Crest of Valor were not animating the unit's knockback but rather snapping them into their new position. (Thanks nekomiya)

Fixed Bug: where the portal to the demonic realm could spawn random minions not listed in the potential demon encounter outcomes due to the More Minions challenge modifier. More Mininons will no longer spawn additional minions for encounters spawned during the battle. (Thanks 1_r3gr3t_cr32ting_th1s_us3rn2m3)

Fixed Bug: where knockbacks triggered by combos while using the Crest of Valor were not animating the unit's knockback but rather snapping them into their new position. (Thanks nekomiya)

Fixed a bug where retreating from the final boss, then returning to the fight would spawn many extra copies of him... "RAWK! Poly shouldn't be!!" Retreat from the final boss no longer possible, as it should be. (Thanks mark112231032)

Greetings D20 Fans!

Face the Prismatic Dragon in a final battle of strategy, meaning, and survival at Descent 20 in Abalon's Season 6 update! This is the epic final boss you've been waiting for. I am simultaneously excited, relieved, and exhausted to get this update out :D I had no idea just how hard this would be to design and develop. Throughout the process, I felt an overwhelming pressure: it's "the final boss" after-all - that comes with stipulations. It's gotta mean something, right? It's got to be the most challenging fight. It's also got to tie the entire game's story and everything that the game is about altogether. I can only imagine what players expect for something like this... For me, personally, I knew it had to do at least one very important thing: evoke emotion. This battle is the culmination of everything our seasoned players have worked towards, and what I hope will be the aspiration for new players first discovering the game to reach. Abalon's story is subtle, but deeply philosophical, exploring things like metaphysics, existential meaning, the nature of reality and the universe and what it all means and why does it matter? For those who've reached the game's ending, you've seen these pieces come together. This update brings an entirely new ending for those who manage to clear Descent 20. It's a very long journey to get there, but, this too, ties into the story (why the journey has to be so long) and I hope you'll recognize this and truly feel what I was going for. At first, I worried I made the battle too hard, but then I remembered just how often players surprise me with their synergies... Now, we'll see if I can surprise you with something you didn't expect.

For the next few weeks, I'll be shifting my attention to player feedback and bug fixes for the 2.95 build. Abalon 3.0 is planned for Season 7 with the following goals:

Asynchronous Multiplayer: Play online/offline battles with players from all over the world and compete for global rank or just have fun together in co-op battles vs. the AI.

The Caves Expansion: Will introduce a new biome, new bosses, encounters and more! This will be our next paid DLC.

QoL: Added an online status indicator to the Menu/Settings to the left of the player's logged in username. Green indicates that connection to D20Studios services (ex: leaderboard, cloud save) is successful and red indicates playing in offline mode.

Fixed Bug where partial service connectivity during scheduled maintenance could prevent user authentication. The game will now successfully default to offline mode for these previously unhandled edge cases. (Thanks Sir'O'tonin)

Fixed Bug where a Steam session started in offline mode would not reconnect to D20Studios online services when internet connection is reestablished.

Spring Break Double XP Event

Greetings Abalon fans! It's officially "Spring Break" for D20Studios. I'll be taking some time off to visit with family and I've decided to celebrate in our community with a Double XP event. From now until April 7th earn double XP in your adventures! This event bonus also stacks with your additional XP bonuses you've earned completing adventures with multiple Summoners and gaining the "Master of Many" achievements.

Season 5: Legendary Leaderboards

Over 10,000 players have joined this season's Legendary Leaderboards competition! If you haven't participated yet, you can get in on the action by reaching player level 6 to unlock leaderboards, then, complete a run to get assigned a tier badge and a 100 player division to compete against. Raise your score to rise through the ranks and ultimately aspire to Diamond tier, where you no longer compete in a division but instead earn global rank against the best players in the world.

Abalon is Now on Google Play Pass

Many of our players have requested options for better pricing on mobile. To that end, I'm excited to announce Abalon is now officially part of Google Play Pass. Anyone with a subscription can now access all of our DLC on their Google Play Android device or via Google Games for PC. Enjoy! I'm also looking into options for regional pricing and potential mobile sales in the future, but please be patient as this will likely require me to develop some custom tech and pipeline solutions.

Fixed Bug where broken Call to Arms def during battle with U'lag'u was creating an ant warrior that never entered the board. Along with definition changes, fixed Call to Arms so it properly knocks back the approaching unit to make room for dropping ant soldier and animates them together in sequence so we see the knockback animation as the ant is falling.

Fixed Bug where the player's summoner is defeated as a result of Three Point Palm, the explosion also defeats the enemy summoner but results in a Victory instead of a Defeat, allowing them to continue to the next wave without a summoner and generate more errors. (Thanks Guest_357953)

Fixed Bug where casting Disintegrate with a Battle Mage could trigger a knockback into a cactus, resulting in the possibility for a ghost version of that unit to spawn after the battle is over. (Thanks Guest_348793)

Fixed Bug where dragging a path so that movement ends on a pickup (card, gold, etc.) and then releasing to confirm movement and clicking (from there) a target to attack would result in the unit moving to the space just prior to reaching the pickup object instead of moving to the object, picking it up and attacking. Balance: The Juggernaut Rubiks now targets the target with highest remaining life, not the target with highest life capacity, as this is the interpretation most players have of the card text. (Thanks wmfrederick)

v2.90.2 Server Fixes

Fixed Bug where an unranked player's division showed your position as if you were ranked against the entire world instead of using the correct unranked division rules.

Fixed Bug where My Division misbehaved when you had not posted a score yet.

Fixed Bug where My Division for an unranked player without a score showed a misleading slice of runs at the top; it now shows a more inviting view instead of odd partial-run scores floating to the top.

Fixed Bug where a very high unranked score from an unfinished run could block tier promotions until you beat that number on a completed run; finishing a run now replaces that incomplete standout so promotions can work normally.

Fixed Bug where Active Season Global Elite could return no results when the season had not yet reached the Diamond tier threshold, even though other players had scores worth showing.

Fixed Bug where Top Summoners did not record a qualifying score unless it also beat your high on the signature-style personal board; Top Summoners highs now save when earned.

Corrected saved Top Summoners data (and related tier fields) for players whose scores or tiers had not been stored correctly when the feature first went live, including follow-up repairs for tier assignment.

Fixed Bug where Global Elite showed No scores found for players not in the Diamond tier, instead of still showing the elite list appropriately.

Fixed Bug where Global Elite looked too empty; it now respects the elite cap while filling out fairly and still shows your global rank when it applies.

Fixed Bug where updating the same run with a lower corrected score could leave your badge out of sync with the score on file; badges now demote when the stored score does (ex: as result of exploiting fate encounter rolls).

Fixed Bug where some accounts had tier badges out of sync with their scores; existing rows were repaired, and the repair logic was adjusted so Diamond players were not wrongly demoted.

Fixed Bug where Global Elite (active season) could show “No scores found” and rank 0 out of a full list at the same time when your account had no score posted for that mode.

Fixed Bug where a Top Summoners run that qualified for the board but did not beat your signature personal high could miss its tier badge; the badge now reflects that run’s score threshold. (Thanks Manchot_Royal)

Fixed Bug where Top Summoners could show the wrong tier order (for example Silver appearing above Gold) because older rows kept stale tiers copied from elsewhere; tiers are now based on each row’s own score.

Fixed Bug where some Top Summoners scores were incorrectly marked deleted after a migration; earned highs were restored.

Fixed Bug where Diamond tier promotions could fail in an edge case.

Fixed Bug where Personal Journey runs were not being tracked as separate adventures for new players that had joined with the release of the Legendary Leaderboard update. Personal runs are now tracked correctly as separate rows in the Personal Journey.

I'm so excited to deliver this update. For years, you've been asking for a proper leaderboard experience, and for years I've wanted to give you one. When I first reset the leaderboards, I promised that one day I'd build a Hall of Fame to commemorate everything you'd accomplished. Today, that promise is kept. Legendary Leaderboards are here, and every original score is preserved. Tiered trophy badges have been retroactively rewarded. This is the culmination of countless player requests and suggestions, and I'm grateful for your patience and your ongoing support.

Legendary Leaderboards

The leaderboard system has been rebuilt from the ground up. You now have three main ways to engage: the live season, your own journey, and the Hall of Fame.

Active Season

Compete in the current competitive season across all supported game modes (Adventure, Traditional, Custom, Fast Adventure, Survival, and more). Choose My Division to see how you stack up against players at your tier, or Global Elite to see the very top scores in the world. A My Standing panel shows your current tier, division, and rank, plus a progress bar toward the next tier when you're playing in the current season. When Diamond tier isn't open yet but you've reached the top tiers, the panel shows the minimum score you need to qualify for Diamond so you know exactly what you're chasing.

Personal Journey (Your Runs)

When very old seasons roll off recent history, we automatically show your archived bests from the Hall of Fame so your journey is never lost.

Global Legends (Hall of Fame)

Top Players: the highest scores for that season and game mode

Top Summoners: the best runs for each summoner across any game mode (All-Stars, or drill into a single summoner's top 100)

Personal Bests (Trophy Room): all of your awards and top placements for that season These views never change once a season ends. Your achievements are permanently recorded. All of the original leaderboard data from before the reset has been preserved and migrated into the Hall of Fame with tiered trophy badges (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond) applied retroactively so your past accomplishments are properly celebrated.

My Standing: Clear Rank & Progress

Unranked: A friendly message invites you to complete a run to calculate your Tier and Division. When you do have a run on the board, the game will still show a temporary "ghost division" so you can see where you'd land.

Ranked (Bronze–Platinum): Your division, your Division Rank (e.g. Rank #12 / 100), and a progress bar toward the next tier.

Diamond: Your Global Rank and total Diamond players. Diamond players always see the full global competition. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40840856/7ccc11ecf32a8f753c3af791c508f014737a6f67.jpg Within the active season, in both Global Elite and Top Summoners views, you can see the total number of players in the season so you know exactly how big the field is. And as you can see, not that big right now while my family and I were testing the feature :P We sure had a blast dominating each others' scores, though. And don't worry, season 4 had over 80K participants, so that bar will jump real quick!

Run Summary (Chronicle)

Battle-by-battle breakdown of how that score was earned

Fate encounters, resource gains, challenge modifiers, and their score impact

Game mode, difficulty, descent level, and the game version the run was played on {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40840856/0761ae456186b96c17ca8fc4a6597e93979c1114.jpg When deck or team data is available, you can view the winning Deck or Team as a browsable card list, then close and return right back to the same run summary without losing your place on the leaderboard. For archived seasons in Global Legends, Run Summaries are preserved for the top performing players of the season and pulled from the Hall of Fame itself, so historical chronicles never depend on your local save.

Fairness & Versions

Only runs started on eligible game versions count toward the current season. Old-version runs are still cloud-saved and appear in Personal Journey, but they don't affect current-season rankings. The Hall of Fame always shows your best scores and ranks for each past season, even after live leaderboards roll over or old run data is cleaned up.

End-of-Season Flow

At the end of the season, the active season leaderboards and personal journey boards, and run summaries are cleared for the next season. Every ranked (badge earning) player's score is captured in their personal bests (trophy room). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40840856/90510ba4cab8955a81873e542786a362e39ce29f.jpg Additionally the top 100 global scores for every game mode (and the top 100 scores for each summoner) each season earn a special bonus: a permanent archive of their run summary, deck and team chronicle. The new season tier thresholds are calculated based on player performance, then, when the new season starts, a 7 day countdown begins until the apex threshold (currently Diamond tier) unlocks and is fixed based on the performance of top scoring players. (Note: It'll be a little shorter countdown for this season due to testing on the new feature).

Adventure is the Heart of Abalon

Adventure Mode is the signature Abalon experience. To reflect this, the leaderboard is designed so that Adventure Mode is the premiere "Major League" competition. While specialty modes (Traditional, Fast, and Custom) offer elite challenges for specialists, the title of "World #1" is pursued on the Adventure stage, where the highest scoring multipliers and the largest Diamond tier reside.

The Pursuit of the Apex

Diamond tier badges are earned on a Global Stage and defined by the world's best players.

The 7-Day Qualifying Period: Every season begins with a 7-day "Settle." During this time, no one is Diamond. Rather, the community competes for the highest scores to "set the bar" for the elite.

Defining the Standard: After 7 days, the top 100 players in Adventure (and top 50 in Specialty modes) who meet the minimum "Diamond Standard" are promoted. The score of the 100th player becomes the Diamond Threshold for the rest of the season.

Earn Your Way In: If you didn't make the initial cut, the door isn't closed. Once the threshold is set, any player who beats that specific score is instantly promoted to Diamond.

No Demotions: Once you earn your Diamond tier badge, it is yours for the season. You will then compete for your Global Rank to see exactly where you stand against the world.

The Legacy Floor: To ensure the rank remains prestigious, the "Diamond Standard" can never be lower than it was in the previous season. The bar only ever goes up.

Final Notes on Leaderboard

Just wanted to say again how I excited I am to deliver this feature! I did my best to preserve your score legacy. Note that because the previous leaderboard only recorded a single high score per player (regardless of game mode) I wasn't able to fully represent the full number of scores you would have now with the system. This is why the speciality modes like Traditional and Fast Adventure look a bit unpopular (they simply had different scoring systems). Some modes, like Survival Mode, didn't even have a leaderboard score, so I'm excited to see this become a new competitive ground :)

AI Engine Stability Improvements

In addition to the leaderboard, I spent a considerable amount of time analyzing bug reports, with a special focus on fixing the continued AI time-outs. This includes several major optimizations to the AI algorithms as well as an overhauled AI worker system that should hopefully resolve the two-minute timeout warning.

Abalon Wiki Coming Soon

Another long-standing community request: a central place to look up cards, encounters, and strategies. My son Wesley has built an Abalon Wiki that includes:

Full card library with details on every card

Details on every encounter in the game

A full unit database

Plans to incorporate the player community to help populate strategy guides and other fun content I'll add the wiki link to the game and our community channels once it's live.

Coming Next

Still in ongoing development and on the horizon for release later this year are: 


Descent 20 and Descent 20+ : I really wanted to include this in the update, but I'll be totally honest: the leaderboard was a giant beast, and like a hydra, it just kept growing more heads the more I swung my sword. Don't worry, it's still coming ;)

The Caves Expansion: Will introduce a new biome, new bosses, encounters and more! This will be our next paid DLC. No dates yet because, like everything I do, I need to feel satisfied that it's truly raising the bar of the Abalon experience.

Asynchronous Multiplayer: I am particularly excited about this one as I support a world-wide community of many different timezones and play styles. Now, with a true and meaningful leaderboard competition to seal-the-deal, I suspect this could be the thing that takes us to the next level!
 You're also going to find one more cool thing on that leaderboard: a timer showing when the season ends. Hint: If I'm ending a season, it means I've got something special planned for the next season. Going forward, you can use this as a countdown to the next major Abalon build drop :)

Thanks for your feedback so far on v2.89!

Good news: I haven't had any reports yet for AI timeout errors suggesting this update has likely helped contribute to fixing the greater issue of memory overload killing the AI workers. Bad news: As a result of denying the AI worker full access to the application resources, a few new bugs were created where the AI was attempting to access queries/logic it can no longer access. I sincerely apologize for this. While I tested this build extensively (20+ hours), I missed a few edge cases that unfortunately resulted in these errors. I'll be sure to add these test cases for next time. I'll also be adding some bonus XP tomes to the players who these issues affected. More Good news: I have fixed all the fringe bugs you've identified so far. Thanks so much for your timely reports!

Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback with me! This update fixes bugs introduced in the last version and features a major overhaul to the AI worker system that I hope will result in greater responsiveness and less AI timeouts. The "big" AI update is still coming but this update has lots of the legwork that should improve technical performance. Stay tuned for our upcoming Double XP Event that I'll be kicking off later this week :)

v2.89.0 Release Notes

AI Improvement: Optimized the AI worker thread by creating it from a dedicated byte array and having it transfer only the definition data it needs from the main thread rather than having it load all definitions. This should result in considerable memory usage and performance and hopefully eliminate many of the AI timeout errors that primarily occur on Android. Note: Maps heavy in units or complex spell calculations may still result in timeouts, but I'm still working on building the new AI engine and expect I'll be able to resolve remaining timeouts when this is rolled out.

Performance: Removed embedded loading screen backgrounds from the main application runtime to reduce memory and overhead.

Fixed Bug where interacting with the Skeleton Bros encounter could result in one of the bros spawning on top of a player's unit causing them to be removed from the party. (Thanks fchswd)

Fixed Bug where dealing ice damage to a fire elemental would cause all status effects and equipment to be removed from them, including challenge modifier status. (Thanks Manchot_Royal)

Fixed Bug where unequipping Saddlebags from an animal wearing the Wizard Hat would not also unequip the Wizard Hat (which requires the ability to use summoner gear). (Thanks burritonator)

Fixed Bug where fast traveling into a treasure room with brambles blocking pathing such that your entire party doesn't fit in the pathable area could result in your party being truncated and losing members. Terrain such as brambles will not be removed automatically to make room for your party. (Thanks SHAWSHANKER)

Fixed Bug where cards stolen from Glyph of Nitsrott, Stolen Dreams, Dreamstealer and the Skeleton Dragon boss were being cast by the original owner of the spell instead of the character whole stole them. (Thanks Ephryos, KagitarShadowscale, QuantumEnigma, Adam and many others!)

QoL: Removed the "Welcome back to Abalon! Tap to continue." screen that would hold the game paused when returning to a battle. (Thanks Whitewolf)

QoL: Set a 500 character limit of on the Share Feedback prompt to ensure your messages are translated and delivered instantly via Discord to Ross. Fixed Bug where shooting a fireball at barrel near trees in explore mode would result in the trees setting on fire before the fireball impacted. (Thanks Arianna and ElCarpintero79)

Fixed Bug where the sacrificial orb unit destruction grants extra mana if the unit is equipped with weapons. (Thanks Das)

Fixed Bug where firing a barrage of squirrels at a unit with a shield wouldn't disarm the block after the first squirrel impact. Now, successive impacts from additional squirrels will hit the target.

Fixed Bug where Sojurn's Defender ability enabled protected units with shields to negate pierce and fully block the incoming attack. (Thanks Anotnio)

Fixed Bug where a neutral unit could be spawned adjacent to a doorway within a dungeon, potentially blocking the way forward. (Thanks Ivellios)

QoL: While in explore mode, pickup items (ex: dice, keys, etc.) will now appear above obstacles that could obscure them from view such as rocks and trees. (Thanks kenny9999k)

QoL: Improved the "bump" detection while exploring in camp and other areas to make navigation easier while still fixing the "stuck on shopkeeper" bug that could previously occur.

QoL: Moved the code for tracking found cards in the Run Summary from the ChooseCardAction to the ChooseCardEffect so that it would correctly track the changes when reloading a game state. Previously, if a player chose a card during battle, then exited and returned, the card found for that choice would not be incremented since the ChooseCardAction only plays when the player initially interacts with the prompt. Now it will correctly store in game state.

Fixed Bug where attempting to equip an item (ex: Wizard Hat) on a character that is maxed out and then viewing their card and closing could still draw that item on the character. (Thanks yaj)

Fixed Bug where a players initial starting cards would be removed from the game instead of returning to the tortoise when removed from the deck if the player started the adventure, quit, and resumed before dismissing the initial adventure prompt. This bug also caused the card count at the tortoise in shop to appear negative or below expected value and could potentially remove loyal hellhound puppy as well. (Thanks Dobermann)

Fixed Bug where using the Hero Doll was counting as a card found for the run score summary instead of as a bonus card. (Thanks Manchot_Royal)

Balance: Exiled Cards will now return to the deck as soon as battle has ended rather than when exploration mode starts. This fixes bug where cards like Rejuvenation might not return to the deck at all and instead go to the tortoise if played during one of the successive rounds of Sandpit Arena. This will also allow players to use Scribe to recover Exiled cards. (Thanks Manchot_Royal)

Balance: Added Fire tag to Wall of Fire and Ring of Fire, Cleansing Fire, Fire Elemental Scroll and Powder Keg so that they can receive the fire spell cost discount and appear in fire queries. Note: These spells do not benefit from Firepower or Spellpower as their damage does not come directly from the caster but rather the enchantment. (Thanks Manchot_Royal)

Fixed Bug where being defeated during the Sandpit arena encounter and reviving with a Joker Potion could result in the encounter being repeated when entering the ambush location again. (Thanks Moirin)

Fixed Bug where Def_World$/fromMap() exception could occur (most commonly for first time players in the tutorial) if they enter the first battle before the AI backworker has completed initializing by adding a job queue that waits until initialization has completed before attempting to load the map for the AI. Fixed Bug where Error #1009 handleCardSortError() could occur when examining card collections.

Fixed Bug where Fast Traveling to a cave corridor without a valid p1 spawn position resulted in Error 1009 getPlayerMapEdgePoint(). The teleport to map effect will now check neutral and p2 spawn positions and finally prompt the player if travel is still not possible. (Thanks Guest_8084)

Fixed Bug where exception Error 1009 makeButton() occurred if failing to connect to PlayerIO service while app is deactivated.

Fixed Bug where Error 1009 clearCardSortFilters() could occur when session ended and player is somehow in as guest.

Fixed Bug where Melt could remove non-removable status effects such as the health modifiers applied for Descent challenges. (Thanks Manchot_Royal)

QoL: Shopkeepers now receive the gold used to purchase loyal recruits at their shops so you can benefit from selling more cards back to them. (Thanks Anotnio)

Balance: Hellfire candle now deals damage directly to the wielder when used, ignoring armor.

QoL: Unlocking a boss room door will now mark the room as a boss on your map just like when you try to open the door before having the boss key. (Thanks Manchot_Royal)

Fixed Bug where using Tribal Transmutor to transform a temporarily controlled enemy into a tiger and then winning the battle could soft lock the game when the transformed enemy returns to the battlefield after the victory prompt. The transformed enemy will now be defeated and removed. (Thanks Esfinge)

Fixed Bug where being defeated and revived via a potion or being transformed to/from an animal could break hostile weather events.

Fixed Bug where the Dreamcatcher artifact could not be used to cast a loyal unit from the deck that entered the battle with the player's party and was defeated during the battle. (Thanks Manchot_Royal)

Context3D Loss Fixes: This update fixes a multitude of bugs being reported that were the result of the Context3D being lost at key moments. The Context3D is how the game speaks to your device's GPU. Yes, Abalon is technically a "3D game" even though its graphics are 2D. Neat, huh? Certain events (like hitting Alt+Ctrl+Del in Windows, closing your laptop lid, turning off the display on Steam Deck, minimizing the app or switching to another app that uses the GPU can result in Context3D loss and generate bugs that can be very difficult for a developer like me to reproduce and fix. To workaround that and finally resolve these issues, I created a series of oh-so-exciting debug commands that simulate various forms of Context3D loss and (with some luck) was finally able to reproduce the unreproducible bugs and fix them.

Resource Improvement: As a result of investigating the Context3D loss, I also rebuilt how the game manages resources such that when the app isn't being used (ex: minimized during launch) it will no longer attempt to load bitmaps into memory while it's unable to access the GPU, which should (in theory) result in better energy/battery/resource consumption for Steam Deck and mobile devices.

Balance: Summoned placable obstacles (ex: Wall of Brambles, Wall of Ice, Brick Blocks, etc.) are now destroyed upon entering explore mode.

Balance: Retreat Changes: Placable obstacles (such as brick blocks, wall of ice, prison of brambles) will no longer block a player's ability to retreat from a battle. All placable obstacles are now removed upon retreat.

Balance: Scribe now triggers on acknowledgment of the battle victory prompt instead of when exploration mode starts. Fixed bug where using Animal Growth on yourself while transformed into a bat by Sassy Molassi, your Summoner is transformed into the mutated version of the anime, then back to your summoner, then back into the bat permanently, causing you to lose instead of being transformed back into your summoner when the bat is killed. Using Animal Growth will now transform you into the Mutant Bat successfully, but only until the end of battle. Also, transforming into a Mutant Bat removes the "until defeated" condition, meaning that if you die while in the form of the Mutant Bat, you will lose. (Thanks Xomnikai).

Fixed bug where, while in the form of the Sabertooth Tiger, drinking the beetle juice and transforming into a beetle returns you into your original form and throws a bug dialog. (Thanks muussi)

Fixed bug where, while in the form of a beetle from drinking the beetle juice and transforming into a Sabertooth tiger by Sassi Molassi, your original summoner joins the team along with the sabertooth tiger and a bug prompt may trigger. (Thanks Guest_206661)

Fixed bug where the Summoner would have a yellow reticle during battle (indicating that it is interactive) after clicking the Nemesis HUD icon until the Nemesis is defeated. (Thanks Arianna)

Fixed bug where game could soft-lock at camp when speaking with the shopkeeper. This was only reported to occur running at 30FPS and was caused by the animation queue getting clogged and often was preceded by a staccato hero movement (one tile at a time) and a camera following the hero (which should never happen at camp). This change may have also fixed characters leaving the camp while still holding their marshmallows. (Thanks Lance)

Fixed bug where AI sync error could occur when additional enemies are called to the battle for encounters like Viking Vanguard if trap tiles on the board had changed status during the battle. (Thanks Guest_306412)

Fixed bug where AI Sync error could occur in multiplayer coop when an AI player is defeated on its own turn. (Thanks ♂Van Darkholme♂)

Fixed bug where AI Sync error could be generated on Catch of the Day if a controlled Marauder is defeated by a Marauder Retiarius, resulting in the AI believing that the restoration of the net is its own cause. This should also fix any other sync errors caused by triggered actions being their own cause within the AI simulator. (Thanks Guest_309018)

Fixed bug where inspecting equipment while waiting for the next round of battle in the Sandpit arena or entering a new battle would throw an exception. Also, if inspecting equipment on a unit while transitioning into a new battle, the unequip button will now disable to prevent potential de-syncs between the prior game state and new battle. I hope you enjoyed our Spooktacular Double XP event for Halloween! Special congrats to all those who cleared Survival mode and for those that cleared wave 40... wow, superb job! As always, I appreciate your kind words, reviews, suggestions and bug reports. I've added several more requested QoL updates, balance changes and bug fixes in this update.

Next Major Update and DLC News

Players in our Discord have asked about the status of our next major update and future expansions and I decided to share my responses here as well for the benefit of everyone. Tarquin McFluffy: Hi Ross, when are you planning to release the next major update? I'm too excited and cannot wait! RossD20Studios: Excellent question... Seeing as I missed the window for the Roguelike/Screamfest (which would have been optimal opportunity), I'm still rethinking this and I haven't decided yet. Major updates are quite tricky because in order to make the most impact with them, I have to consider more factors than just when they are ready for release. Generally, I like to coincide major releases with opportunities like a combination visibility round + sale + Steam event. I also look at whether the current build and server highly stable and generally ready for a huge influx of activity. And the longer I delay a release, do I feel the content/features I've created are still worthy of the hype or does it need more? It's a constant push/pull between a bunch of spinning plates and also remaining active/diligent providing good customer service along the journey. Kaaz: Is Caves being saved for Christmas? Or different holiday? RossD20Studios: Most likely early 2026 for that one. I need to release the major update first (or possibly in conjunction with the DLC could be a nice way to boost everything together...) For Steam holiday sale/Christmas I'm planning to host another Double XP event. It's also possible I might break up some of the major update features into smaller incremental updates and then bundle the rest with a larger major update + DLC release. Currently I'm seeing a lot of timeout reports on Android with regards to the AI processing, so I'm considering shifting some development focus to improving that, which also contributes to the Abalon Arena development. Both caves and the final boss have a lot of hype around them... and I tend to judge myself a lot harder when it comes to the creative/thematic type stuff over features. Features are much easier - they do what they do, it's a pass/fail, whereas new content is so much more subjective. I'm constantly beating myself up and asking how the new content can top/add something different to the types of stuff already done. Hope that helps provide some insight on where I'm currently at! Game development is never an exact science and sometimes it's necessary to pivot my work to address other areas of the game (like the AI engine in this case) in order to provide players with the best experience.

v2.84.3 Release Notes

QoL: Improved the card sorting algorithm for "Group by Type" so that Artifacts are grouped together with other equippable satchel cards. This way, your consumables and your equippable cards are kept separate. (Thanks sanasarus)

QoL: When continuing an adventure cross-platform on a device that does not have DLC entitlements, cards within DLC sets found through prior progress in the adventure on a device with entitlements will no longer show as grayed out within the deck and will no longer vanish from the tortoise collection when removed from the deck. This ensures that all cards found throughout the adventure are usable regardless of platform and entitlements. Platform entitlements are still required to play/continue adventures as a Summoner in DLC card sets and to start new adventures with custom decks containing DLC cards. QoL: Changed wording of effects that reduce the cost of cards from "spells cost less" to "cards cost less" to clarify that all cards (units and spells) benefit from the effect, not just spell cards. (Thanks Sinzar)

QoL: Tips prompts will now show when loading back a game and replaying commands.

QoL: The NPC Vampire Witch in the Fortune Teller encounter of Harvest world now has a name, Sassy Molassi. (Thanks HiddenHearth, Kaaz, Xomnikai and Lance)

Balance: Bat's card text now appropriately reads "Inflict: Gain +0/+1" and functions mechanically like other Inflict abilities. (Thanks Provocation)

Balance: Summoner Gear can no longer be unequipped during battle.

Balance: Artifacts can no longer be equipped if the character has used their action. Consumable items, like Healing potion Phylactery Potion, can always be used/equipped. (Thanks Vortex)

Balance: Card Pickups are now treated as non-undoable actions because they reveal hidden information about the card reward that will be given.

Balance: Actions that would regularly be considered non-undoable are now allowed to undo if the commanded interaction results in triggering multiple prompts. For example, if you command a character to walk over two satchel card pickups in the same action (each of which would generate a hidden card reward), you can now undo back to the initial card pickup after choosing the first satchel's reward and seeing the options presented as rewards in the second satchel pickup. Note that you cannot undo past the initial command once you've commanded your unit to pickup and reveal hidden card rewards.

Balance: Being afflicted by the Silence spell will no longer prevent player from using satchel cards. (Thanks Kazbad)

Fixed bug where tooltip could become stuck on the display if mousing over a button or hud element that vanishes during the transition from explore to battle or battle to explore. (Thanks Wesley)

Fixed bug where buying satchel cards from the Traveling Merchant wasn't encountering them, thus enabling the possibility of finding artifacts (which should be unique) subsequent times in the adventure. (Thanks HiddenHearth)

Fixed bug where selling a satchel card did not unfind it for purposes of discovering it again (if an artifact) in future chapters.

Fixed bug where the Lost Guardians challenge modifier wasn't triggering properly if the guardian dies while controlled by the enemy. (Thanks Guest_288190)

Fixed bug where Radiant Amethyst or Hellfire Candle could be repeatedly equipped and unequipped to endlessly stack their mana cost discount. (Thanks Vortex)

Fixed bug where walking over multiple satchel cards and exiting without choosing a card or hitting the replay button during the second satchel pickup would result in a stuck game state. The choose card prompt will now properly display when returning back to the game for any cards that were not selected. (Thanks Guest_299992)

Fixed bug where entering a new encounter that generates a prompt soft-locks the game instead of displaying the prompt until exiting/restarting the game. I believe this issue may have been caused by a rare game state where an animation thread is created but never started. This change ensures that any new animations are placed on the existing, unstarted animation thread. (Thanks Lance)

Fixed bug where a Suspicious Tomb with the Buried Alive fate encounter failed to do anything after being opened because there were no valid guardians left to spawn (due to the starting guardians and Mercenary Den using up all the slots). The encounter will now spawn animals and elementals if there are insufficient human guardians to bury in the tomb. (Thanks HiddenHearth)

Fixed bug where the Replay Tutorial option generated a prompt that could remove the current in-game prompt from the screen by embedding the choice to play the tutorial directly into the settings menu.

Spooktacular Double XP Event

Happy Halloween, Abalon fans! We're celebrating with a spooktacular double XP event. Earn double XP while adventuring in the Harvest biome and fighting off the horde in Survival mode. During the event, all players have access to the Harvest Biome and Survival Mode. And for the first time ever, players now earn XP for playing Survival Mode!

In the meantime, I'm pleased to release a few more changes (including a couple new features) in advance that you can explore below:

New Feature: HUD Status Alerts now display to show counters for important events such as tiles left for Nemesis to reach you, number of weather events remaining, and the wave/round count for Horde Survival and Sandpit arena. Players can click on the Nemesis icon to trigger an immediate battle with the Nemesis at their current location. Players can click on the weather icon to view a description of the event and information about hostile weather.

New Feature: Player's now gain score, par bonus and earn XP for playing Survival Mode.

QoL: Improved the "Player Disconnected" experience in multiplayer by having the prompt now display in line with the scrim (instead of with a scrim on top of everything) so that players can still use the chat button and interact with other elements on the screen while waiting for player to reconnect. Additionally, created an animation so that if the player disconnects during an AI turn, the disconnected prompt does not surface until after the view catches up and shows that player's turn as started.

QoL: Improved prompts by preventing interaction with prompt via esc/confirm actions when the prompt is not on screen (such as when it's waiting for a game response and player is browsing their deck).

QoL: Improved how XP bonuses are displayed. Previously, it would show the percentage based on the rounded XP integer value. For example, if a player had a 1.05 multiplier on 10 XP, they receive +1 XP (rounded up) which is actually 10% bonus. The XP awarded is still rounded up, but now for clarity the XP bonus shown is +5%. This is to help players understand how all of their combined XP bonuses are working together.

v2.82.0 Release Notes

I'm still working on the next major update (Descent 20, Leaderboard Overhaul, More Player-Requested QoL) but decided to take some advice from our community and hold off on the release until I've had adequate time to test all the new features. News on Next Major Update

Abalon will be participating in back-to-back events: Roguelike Celebration and Scream Fest starting on October 21st and running through November 3rd. I'm aiming to have our next major update (v2.80.0) released between these dates to coincide with these events (probably closer to the middle since this patch took a lot of my dev time). The focus of this major update will be adding Descent 20 which will feature an epic final boss fight, a major leaderboard upgrade, and several other important QoL requests.

v2.77.0 Release Notes

Potential Bug Fix (Android): Some Android device users have reported issues where the UI is cutoff below the device in portrait mode and showing black bars on the opposite side. This is due to how the device reports the cutout area for camera notch. If the rectangle is incorrect, this issue can occur. With this build, I'm trying a new method to retrieve the safe display area for Android devices that should hopefully resolve the issue. Devices reported to experience this issue include: Samsung Galaxy S10, VivoY3 and Infinix X680B. Recently (after my last attempt at fixing this in v2.76.0): DOOGEE S86 and Huawey P40. If you're experiencing this issue, please report in game using Menu -> Share Feedback and include your device model. The more information I have, the more reliably I can fix this.

Fixed bug where an enemy with "Inflict Remove Equipment" defeating an animal equipped with the Centurion Harness that already had the nullify equipment status would result in the +1/+1 being removed twice, resulting in a persistent -1/-1 applied to all allies. (Thanks Darling)

Fixed bug where a Yeti King that triggered the Roar surprise was not being pacified, allowing his second attack to connect with the roaring unit. The Roar spell now directly applies the pacified status after showing the negated attack on the roared unit. (Thanks HiddenHearth)

Fixed bug where obstacles near river edges could be removed from the map, creating gaps where line of sight and pathing to the enemies is completely blocked when the map has a fate encounter that results in a battle. (Thanks steph

Fixed bug where equipping an item during battle with a surprise on a unit who has a surprise spell on them would remove their surprise spell. Only one surprise spell can be placed on a unit at a time, but any number of items with surprise effects can be placed on the unit.

Fixed bug where, while equipped with a Joker's Last Stand potion and then a Phylactery Potion, the Phylactery Potion would trigger the revival (and be consumed) while the Joker Potion would trigger the explosion and not be consumed. Previously, the Joker potion's effects were on two separate triggers. With this fix, both effects (the revival and explosion) occur in the same action. This means that you can equip the two potions together, and the last equipped potion will resolve first, leaving the other potion remaining on the unit for future use. (Thanks Cardust)

Fixed bug where unequipping a Fire Orb or Arcana during battle was not removing the bonus Fire Power/Spellpower and re-equipping it would grant an additional bonus. (Thanks Guest_130529)

Fixed bug where looting a weapons rack or spell tome in battle mode or multiplayer while the deck and hand are full results in a copy of the card being placed in your discard pile. (Thanks Kaden)

Fixed bug where it was sometimes possible for LinkedArmature to throw an exception by calling the updateCoords method after being disposed.

Fixed bug where rapidly unequipping items could result in the keywords panel for the unit being unequipped remaining stuck on the screen until exiting the game.

Fixed bug where rapidly equipping items could sometimes result in an item being lost. Satchel cards now attach successfully to party members even if they temporarily decouple from the grid to reposition themselves behind the summoner. Additionally, any satchel cards that fail to cast are now automatically salvaged back to the player's satchel. (Thanks Guest_284800)

Fixed bug where casting Frozen Blades (or another spell/attack that involves throwing the weapon) while equipment is nullified results in an error. (Thanks a8131009)

Fixed bug where the player becomes trapped in an unplayable state when the autoSave mini playable 5x5 zone around the hero overlaps with enemies positioned on an adjacent map which causes the engine to believe the game is in battle when it is technically in explore mode. The problem occurs when the startExplore fails to initiate exploration mode because it detects enemy units (Skeleton Archers) within the adjacent room since the 5x5 playable area overlaps. Fixed bug where equipping units in exploration mode could result in them changing their facing.

Fixed bug where surpriseVFX particles appeared initially in the upper left corner and then over the surprise overlay text.

QoL: Fixed Frozen Blade animation so that it now throws frozen daggers as the projectile instead of the Summoner's weapon.

Fixed bug where terrain assets that raster on the game board (ex: cactus) were showing tinier than designed when viewing their card.

QoL: Improved size of texture atlases by changing how destructible debris is plotted. The debris guide is no longer rasterized, conserving both disk space and texture memory, and is instead generated dynamically based on the dimensions of the object.

QoL: Knockback now fires in response to a new Attack_Pre_Damage event that ensures units are knocked back before receiving damage. This creates a more immersive effect for destroying barrels, crates, and other objects as the destroyed object will now knockback as it's being smashed to pieces.

QoL: Rewards dropped from destroyed objects being knocked back will now drop where the destroyed object lands, with the rewarded object appearing to fly out of the debris, creating a more immersive experience.

Balance Blizzard is now correctly tagged as hostile weather - you can no longer fast travel during a blizzard.

Balance Weather events no longer carry over to the next world. (Thanks steph)

Balance Weather events now end when entering an indoor area.

Balance Ice Blocks are now Anchored.

Balance Units and obstacles with Collide: Deal X damage (such as cacti and brambles) will no longer injure units for non-adjacent attacks. This makes lunge units and spin attack units useful for clearing these obstacles.

Fixed bug where it was possible with certain units on the board (ex: Skeleton Necromancer) to undo an action, then discard a card without it going to the discard pile. The player could then still play the discarded card. (Thanks HiddenHearth).

Fixed bug where opening the satchel after accessing the sell satchel cards menu at a shop shows the gold cost and shop gold for the previous shop. (Thanks Arianna and Wesley)

Fixed bug where, after visiting all of the available safe encounters in the first chapter, newly explored difficult encounters could still be swapped with a previously explored area's encounter. (Thanks Arianna)

Fixed bug where ambushing enemies that were injured (but not defeated) during a battle where the player retreats would maintain their wounds when the player returns to the fight. (Thanks Arianna)

Balance Neutral units in encounters like Play Nice with Ice, Dinner A-Fowl and Catch of the Day will now have their health restored to full when retreating and returning to battle.

Balance The Beetle in Beetle's Burden encounter now heals to full life if successfully saved from the scorpions in battle.

v2.76.0 Release Notes

Fixed Bug where Vampire would not trigger his bite attack on backstabbed enemies when equipped with the Fire Sword. (Thanks m007kuzya)

Fixed Bug where two of the golden chests adjacent to an animal gear chest within a locked jail cell cannot be looted after looting the animal gear chest. (Thanks Peinan Cai and Kazbad)

Fixed Bug where an armored unit protected by a forcefield could be struck by a pierce unit (breaking the forcefield but dealing no damage) and then hit a second time by a non-pierce unit which would then pierce the armor. This occurred because the forcefield's damage prevention was not clearing the pierced flag set on the unit by the initial attack. (Thanks Avadhuta)

QoL: Unequipping an item that increases max health will not longer drop the unit's remaining life below 1. Max Life equipment differs from +0/+X effects in that filled heart containers are removed, while +0/+X removes empty heart containers first (if available) and only adjusts life remaining if it would exceed the unit's life attribute. The reason Max Life mechanic is different for equipment is to prevent the unintended effect of healing the unit by repeatedly equipping and unequipping the item. However, it felt bad to have characters accidentally defeated when removing an item, so that's why I made this change.

QoL: Unequipping an item that increases max health will no longer trigger a damage event. This ensures that unit's like Flesh Golem, Giggles, and Patchels do not trigger their body guard ability to absorb the life lost to the unequipped summoner.

Fixed Bug where Incubus Jacket and Tribal Harness were using a different implementation of the +X Max Life mechanic. All +X Max Life mechanics now behave consistently. Also wrapped the primary definition of +X Max Life into the 3 heart artifacts that increase max life (Arcane, Void and Celestial Hearts) so that they follow the same mechanics. This also fixes an issue where the +X Max Life description text wasn't appearing localized on some cards.

QoL: Fix the position of the room code in the mobile layout of Abalon Arena beta so it's not overlapping the playable area of the battle grid.

Potential Fix for game UI being cut off by black bars on select Android devices (such as the Samsung Galaxy S10, VivoY3 and Infinix X680B) while in portrait mode. If you have any of these devices or were experiencing an issue with UI being cut off, please let me know whether or not this updated corrected the issue via Menu -> Share Feedback. The problem is caused by inaccurate cut-out safe area (for the camera notch) being reported from device to the game and is remedied by a developer SDK update. It may still need another patch to fix it.

Fixed Bug where Chinese Traditional translation of the Heatwave encounter did not provide a miraculous clearing of the hostile weather option on roll of 20.

Fixed Bug where some items (such as the Wolf Skin Helmet) were generating duplicate copies when loading a save and/or selling items. This occurred due to the definition of how these cards were being stored as items or status effects. To fix this (and also reduce overall size of save data), I've changed all equipment to assume it's an item unless explicitly applied as a status. (Thanks Guest_130529)

QoL: Equipment functioning as a skin only (ex: Goblin Party Hat, Chronomancer Top Hat) are now designated as cannotBeRemoved and will no longer be removed from the unit skin when equipment is removed (i.e. from an enemy disarm ability), since these are meant as decoration only rather than functional gear. Additionally, any equipment with attribute cannotBeRemoved will not increment the numEquipment property of the unit.

Fixed Bug where Marauder Warlord (and any rally unit) could trigger their rally ability when a polymorphed unit of their rally type is defeated (due to it "switching back" prior to death) . (Thanks HiddenHearth)

Fixed Bug where scrolling up and down within the run summary would yield different score results for the gold spent. The gold spent should always generate a score of 0. (Thanks Doberman)

Fixed Bug where Swipe was being flagged as removed when equipping a non-Swipe weapon to a humanoid unit but was still functioning. (Thanks Doberman) This was occurring because the unit could not fall back on the default melee action. To fix this, I now create an additional action for the base melee if the unit's melee ability is tagged as having an equipment context of rightHandWeapon. Then, if the unit is equipped with another weapon in their right hand, we skip using their default ability assigned action so that the base attack is used instead.

Fixed Bug where Celestial Shield spell was negating the falling into deep water effect, allowing the unit to remain standing on water instead of falling in. (Thanks Kazbad)

Fixed Bug where last enemy did not drop the lore contained on the map because the last unit defeated is their own unit summoned by a Dreamstealer stealing and casting their card. (Thanks 7u78)

Fixed Bug where game would fail to progress after defeating an enemy while the player was controlling one of the enemy units cast via Glyph of Nithsrot who had been polymorphed into a squirrel. (Thanks Guest_273898)

Fixed Bug where the player could become permanently transformed into a bear using the Savage Transform spell, which would also prevent the recruiting of guardians other than free-will and nature. (Thanks audarka)

v2.75.0 Release Notes

Fixed Bug preventing launch of Abalon on macOS versions 10.x and lower caused by a minimum requirements change in Xcode. This was previously thought fixed in v2.74 but it turns out multiple native libraries were affected. The issue should now be resolved.

Balance: The "Cannot Block" status will no longer be removed when equipping a new shield. (Thanks Drylord)

Fixed Bug where the card description for the Naga Leader was listing Inflict Poison (1) twice instead of Inflict Poison (2) (Thanks 1_r3gr3t_cr32ting_th1s_us3rn2m3)
