Hi everyone!
Thank you for your continued support for A Week in Paradise.
With this I've pushed out some small updates:
more text corrections
added: 4 more save slots!
new feature: you can now skip the "dream" segments on subsequent playthroughs
These changes should help you completionists out there searching for all the endings.
Let us know if you run into any issues.
Also,
We are starting the Portuguese localization, but no ETA on that for now.
Thanks for playing and see you next update!

Things are wrapping up nicely on the production side. "ith all the progress we've made, we're comfortable announcing this release date!
We'll be checking back in soon!
sorry for the silence! Let's not call these monthly anymore, haha! I was recently in Steam Next Fest, we didn't have great traction but for what we went in with it was pretty good!
Since then, I've been nose-to-keyboard for weeks! To be so real, I find these updates really difficult! I don't know what it is about chronicling the work, as I work, that become hard to track.
I suppose it feels somewhat like backtracking as my to-do list is written in only ways I understand. Things as small as making the phone ring or as large as setting up a whole new animation, all take time but not everything is "worthy" progress.
And so much of this kind of work is fighting your own mentality, I realized. It's so easy to get lost in the numbers, to track validity of effort with engagement.
At the same time, there's something so gratifying about the process. Seeing the vision build up into reality and overcoming the knowledge gaps that try to prevent it.
Added a ton of fluidity between chapters and fixed a big plot hole. I also completely re-wrote half of one of the chapters.
I want to add some conversations to the mini game(s) that lets you explore some things a bit deeper, these are To Be Written.
ALL THE REQUIRED ART IS DONE.* All 14+ CGs! All the drinks! All the backgrounds! All the busts! I can now focus on stretch goals and polishing anything out of place.
(You might have noticed the new screen shot!)
* Weeeeelll, I think it's time to bite the bullet and update the cover art, more on this in the future.
I gave all the UI a fresh coat of paint, it felt unfinished and disjointed. There are also a lot more features such as loading from the pause menu, disabling text sounds, auto play and more. These and all other system changes won't be patched to the demo until the game is closer to release.
All the chapters run and can be loaded into! The saving works even if there are patches to the game! The history button works! (Sorry demo players) Steam Cloud Saving and achievements are fully functional!
What's left is making sure the game is fully playable with just keyboard and or controller and any unforeseen bugs found in play testing.
And speaking of...
I'm happy to say I'm currently running a play test for a FULL run of the game!! I would like to say I'm ahead of schedule but ahaha... my original goal was September.
There's still a lot of work to do, bugs to fix, accessibility and functionality to implement, but now I have release date in mind. Stay tuned for that announcement :)
I have pushed a patch out last night (and today) with the revamped and hopefully final version of the demo. Let's go over it.
Bug: fix where players crashed when finishing the dart games in the last update
Several collisions have been adjusted to prevent players from getting stuck or walking on textures
New CG, a new graphic has been added to the intro!
New VA: Welcome Bernie K-G as the new voice of Charlene!
Voice acting EQ: all voice lines have been given another audio mixing pass
Memories fade to show progression in dream 1
Drink choices no longer flicker when using mouse
Smoother camera panning
Typo and grammatical fixes
Added voice control with SFX slider feedback
Label to assure this is only the demo version of the game
Save and loading buttons removed
Various quality polishes
Credits updated
See you next month for a progress update!
We're getting close!
Hey all! Time for a monthly update er.... two months later.
There's a lot to cover so let's start on writing ...
The main script is done!
It's about 17,000 words not including many item descriptions to to be written. The story feels whole and satisfying- and alpha readers agree!
The save system works!! This was a massive undertaking.
It still needs some tweaks to keep the UI consistent.. but it LOADS to the CORRECT chapter with your choices! Will try to add it to the demo before next fest.
There's so much art left to do but it's moving! New maps, new character busts, and Ui improvments!
So much more back-end work but we're keeping on target. With the script finished, I'm starting to get into "very progress, much fast" mode. There's just a few more things left to figure out. Stay tuned for more very soon!
